OUR ENGINEERING STAFF:

Dr. Alan Troup

Dr. Raul Abreu

Alan's PhD (Camb.) is in the field of electronic physics and he has spent more than 20 years in research or product development for large companies.

In his early career, he worked extensively on the design of analogue and digital circuitry and worked with many of the early microcomputers and microprocessors.

Over the last 10 years, he has repaired or worked on literally thousands of computers of all types and is expert in all of the Microsoft operating systems and most of the commonly encountered applications. He also supports the Mac OSX. He has set up many hundreds of broadband systems for businesses and private clients and also many complete office networks with and without server support.

Before setting up Stanly Associates, he was a Technical Director for the Semiconductor division of a major plc for 8 years. He also worked for several years as a consultant in sensor technologies and the management of innovation, before changing direction to focus on the network and computer support business.

He is a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of the Institute of Physics and a past Fellow of both the Institute of Electrical Engineers and the Institute of Mechanical Engineers.

Raul's PhD (Camb.) is in the field of electronic physics and he has spent more than 20 years in industrial research for large companies. He is a specialist in instrumentation design and computer control. He was a post-doctoral researcher at Stanford University, working on the design and construction of laser systems for high resolution spectroscopy. In his early career he worked on solar cell technology, and in the design and construction of automated instruments involving real-time process control computer programming for use in the oil industry.

Before joining Stanly Associates, he was responsible for accelerated challenge testing of capital equipment for use in the microelectronics industry. He managed the design and construction of several computer automated chemical test laboratories, utilising advanced computer-controlled test procedures and data acquisition techniques.

Raul is a member of the Institute of Physics, and a past member of the American Institute of Physics, the Optical Society of America, the American Vacuum Society and the Institute of Electrical Engineers.
